[랭크5=고현 기자] In this interview, Bali MMA representative Youssef Wehbe talks to John Hyon Ko of Kumite TV about his upcoming rematch with Leandro Martins at UAE Warriors, getting paid by one promotion while getting ripped off by another, having a good bond with many of the Middle Eastern fighters, training with former UFC heavyweight champion “Big Nog” Minotauro Nogueria, and more.
Youssef “The Silverback” Wehbe will take on Leandro Martins at UAE Warriors on May 3 in Abu Dhabi.
Notable excerpts from the interview:
John Hyon Ko: “So both of your fights for Phoenix [Fighting Championship] you didn’t get paid?”
Youssef Wehbe: “No, just the last one in Abu Dhabi. I didn’t get paid for that. Yeah, that was really horrible, man. Not getting paid for two out of three fights, not in the right time. I don’t know what’s going on with me, you know. I don’t know, I really don’t know. Just believing in this thing and going. That’s all I can do.”
John Hyon Ko: “Why did [UAE Warriors] decide to do the rematch [with Leandro Martins]?”
Youssef Wehbe: “Because I whipped his ass and they let him win cause the whole show is…everybody is Brazilian and everybody who runs that show is Brazilian. Everyone, everyone! They promised me it was going to be a no contest and now they are changing their word. Pretty fucked up but I’m coming in the fuck him up.”
John Hyon Ko: “Recently I saw that ‘Big Nog’ Minotauro Nogueria made a visit [to Bali MMA], how was that experience?”
Youssef Wehbe: “Man, that was cool. I got a sparring round with him. Those heavyweights is a different game, it’s a way different game. Pretty cool to have him here. I used to watch him before I even started. I used to watch him on YouTube. That was cool to meet a legend like him and spar a round with him and talk to him.”
