Gaining a reputation as an exciting finisher, the brass decided to test Knight and placed him opposite former featherweight title-challenger Ricardo Lamas at UFC 214. The fight did not go his way and he went back to the drawing board.

He returned to the Octagon about five months later and took on Gabriel Benitez. Knight dropped a unanimous decision and was on the first two-fight skid of his career. He does not make excuses for his performance but he takes away a huge lesson from what transpired in that matchup.

With his back somewhat against the wall, “The Kid” will now travel over to Liverpool, England and face Makwan Amirkhani at UFC Fight Night 130 on May 27.

In this interview, UFC featherweight Jason Knight spoke with John Hyon Ko while cooking dinner for his family about appreciating the cult following he has built, how doing nine months in jail changed his life, getting work in at Donald Cerrone’s BMF Ranch leading up to UFC Liverpool, Makwan Amirkhani underestimating him and more.
