Mansour Barnaoui, Shamil Zavurov Earn Spots In Million Dollar Finals At ROAD FC 46

Mansour Barnaoui

[RANK5=John Hyon Ko] ROAD FC 46 had a lot on the line throughout the proceedings. When it was all said and done, Shamil Zavurov and Mansour Barnaoui punched their tickets to the $1 Million Lightweight Tournament Finals and Jeong-Young Lee earned a shot at the title by destroying Se-Young Kim in the main event. Also, In-Su Hwang put the middleweight division on notice by pummeling promotional warhorse Nae-Chul Kim.

The main event had the next featherweight title shot on the line so Jeong-Young Lee came in and got revenge in the rematch by finishing Se-Young Kim in the first round with punches.

It was very apparent that Lee was the superior striker from the start and he even knocked Kim down early in the opening frame but stayed calm. When his opportunity came, he landed two stinging left hands and swarmed his rival to put an end to the fight by hurting him badly against the cage.

As a result of his spectacular performance, Lee will take on ROAD FC Featherweight Champion Mu-Gyeom Choi at a later date.

In the first of two semi-final clashes, Mansour Barnaoui weathered the storm from Kota Shimoishi and got the tap in the third round via rear-naked choke. The Japanese underdog came out and stayed competitive throughout until the French neck hunter took the back and put those long arms around his neck.

Barnaoui has finished all four of his tournament bouts with the same submission and his physical attributes make him very deadly in the clinch as well. That makes it five straight overall wins and all of them never made it to the judges.

The second semi-finals match of the night had Shamil Zavurov completely dismantling Ronys Torres on the feet to get the unanimous decision. The Russian worked the jab continuously to bloody the face and kick the front leg to hinder the mobility of his foe. This was a perfect gameplan against a dangerous ground fighter that led to the easy victory.

On top of losing out on the large cash prize, Torres had his 11-fight winning streak snapped. The Brazilian was impressive throughout the tournament but the clash of styles was too much for him.

Shamil Zavurov will now take on Mansour Barnaoui in the $1 Million Lightweight Tournament Finals later this year.

The main fight of the preliminary card pitted rising undefeated knockout artist In-Su Hwang against gritty veteran Nae-Chul Kim. It only took Hwang 50 seconds to take out his opponent with a massive onslaught of punches against the fence that resulted in the referee stepping in while Kim was still standing to end the brutal beatdown.

The Team MAD product displayed precision punching on top of lightning speed with his combinations. Every time out he has looked scarier and scarier which could make many of the other middleweights not want to challenge him.

He extends his first-round knockout streak to four in a row and solidifies himself as a contender in the division. A matchup with former champion Riki Fukuda or a shot at the interim Middleweight Champion Young Choi would be fun to watch.
